Apostles’ Creed – 2nd Article: Christ’s Office

Prophets, priests, and kings were all anointed in the Old Testament with olive oil.  Being anointed means to be set apart.  A head full of oil would do that for anyone!  When we say Jesus Christ, we are saying his name – Jesus – and his title – Christ.  The word Christ is Greek for anointed.  The word Messiah means the same thing – anointed – in the Hebrew language.  Jesus is THE anointed one.  Watch this week’s study of the Apostles’ Creed – Christ’s Office – to see the different hats that Jesus’ still wears for us today.
