Do you count to ten? Maybe you’re a wood chopper? Slowly breathing can help too, so says the experts. Whatever you do for anger management, it’s important to keep a lid on our temper. Our example from Numbers 20 is a sobering example that anyone is at risk for sin. There is no one who is exempt from the devil’s schemes. Moses was an incredible leader. He had been an advocate for God’s people for decades. What was it about this time? How did he lose his cool?
You might say that hitting a rock, as opposed to speaking to it, isn’t that big of a deal, but it was to God. He lashed out at God’s people and stepped into God’s shoes for a moment. That crossed the line in God’s eyes and the consequence was severe. After all of the wandering and heartache, Moses was going to be excluded from entering the Promised Land of Canaan.
The good news is that there was forgiveness for Moses. Even though he never was able to step foot in Canaan, Moses lives, right now. He is enjoying the Promised Land of heaven. There was forgiveness for Moses lost temper and there is for yours too. Want to hear more? Watch this week’s lesson from our series, Counting on God – Anger Management.
