Is Biscuit in Heaven? If you have recently lost your favorite dog or other pet, this is a serious question. Our God does tell us some information on the topic. We can’t say for sure, but when we read different parts of the Bible, in the pictures of heaven, there are animals. Now does that mean that your Biscuit will be there? Our God doesn’t tell us.
So often when there is a description of heaven it involves negatives. That doesn’t mean they are bad, it just means the descriptions are what heaven won’t be. There won’t be hunger or thirst or disease. This weekend we are celebrating the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day, the end of World War I. There won’t be any more war or death. God has something far better planned for us.
So let your minds wander and wonder. Will there be pizza, soccer, or fishing? I remember listening to someone comment in a worried tone about singing in heaven. This person was never a very good singer so the thought of an eternity in song wasn’t really exciting. I think that if our sinful minds have a hard time thinking past our next meal, there is no way we can wrap our heads around the glories that God has waiting for us.
In the gospel of Luke Jesus tells the Parable of the Minas. When the master returns he commends the workers for their faithfulness and gives them charge of, not just minas, an amount of money, but cities! Now it might be dangerous to take just that line and extrapolate that there will be a great civilization in heaven, but there will be a lot of people. Every believer who ever walked the earth with be present in glory with Jesus. Why not have the ability to meet, to create, to enjoy?
Do you ever wonder if you’ll be there? If you know Jesus and what he’s done for you, peace be with you. He has your room reserved. Want to hear more? Watch this week’s Bible class as we work through the season of End Times: Heaven.
