Eat and Live

What do Ebeneezer Scrooge and junk food have in common?  They both fit perfectly into John 6.  The emotional high that come with the “most wonderful time of the year” isn’t necessarily bad.  I love all the trapping of Christmas.  The music is powerful.  All the pomp of special worship, parties, presents, and people you haven’t seen in months make the Christmas season great, but the heart of the season is the incarnation.  God is clothed in flesh.  As Jesus, the Bread of Life, beckons the crowds to eat and live, they reject the only real food they NEED.  They reject him because he is clothed in flesh.  As they feast on the junk food of the law, our God pleads with his gospel – Eat and live!
