The finish line is a goal that everyone has. Maybe you’re not a runner, but you can still appreciate reach the end of a task. Christianity isn’t much different. Our goal is heaven. During the season Lent, our 40 day journey with Jesus to the cross. We see the depth of his love for us. Some have challenged the numbers… It is 46 days from Ash Wednesday to Holy Saturday, the day before Easter Sunday. The historical church isn’t bad at math. The 5 Sundays in Lent and Palm Sunday make up the missing days. These six days are islands of grace in a Christian’s journey through a season of repentance and a focus on Jesus’ passion. The Scripture lessons in the Sundays in Lent are powerful and grace filled – Jesus’ parable of the prodigal son is a perfect example.
We finish off our sermon series this Sunday, Walk This Way. We have looked at helpful advice for our Christian walk. This Sunday in Finish Line we’ll look at the details of running the Christian race. What trophy will we find when we reach heaven? What do we need to do if Jesus has already won everything for us? Watch and find out!
