Old Made New

If you are looking for something old, you won’t be disappointed at Randy’s Toy Shop in Noblesville, IN.  There you will find antique toys that have been restored to mint status.  What is the secret?  Randy actually has expert artists that recreate a box, a toy, whatever, so that it looks like it did 50 years ago.

I don’t know that God specializes in toys, but he does specialize in making things that are old new again.  When God sees one of his children (that’s all people) who isn’t living up to his standards, he would have every right to wipe that individual off the face of the earth.  That’s not what God did.  God sent Jesus to die in the place of that person, no matter how great the sin might be.  It is that message of forgiveness that transforms hearts and creates new life.  It is the Holy Spirit who moves powerfully to recreate a heart that has been damaged by sin.

The Holy Spirit doesn’t get alot of attention.  That’s the way he likes it.  The spotlight is on Jesus.  Everything that he did and who he is – that is Christianity.  The Holy Spirit, the Counselor, is the one who does the heavy lifting in the heart.

Yet, did you know that humans have the terrifying ability to reject the creator?  How do we know if someone fits that description?  Want to hear more about the Holy Spirit and the only unforgivable sin?  Watch this week’s sermon taken from John 14.
