The Time In Between – A Time to Bend the Knee

The Time In Between – A Time to Bend the Knee is the final sermon in our End Times series.  Are you missing someone this Thanksgiving weekend?

Three days ago there was a story of a waitress in Massachusetts, Jenn, who was surprised when her son, Cameron came home.  THIS is the video.  It’s fun to watch!  These stories aren’t that uncommon, but I realized something after watching that.

Knowing Loss

I don’t know what it’s like to lose a brother or parent or even to know that an immediate family member was in harms way.  Watching that video helped me to realize that there’s someone I miss.  I miss Jesus – not the way you miss your favorite ice cream or a pleasant feeling you get from your favorite time of the year. But in the way you long for someone to come to you at last.  Someone who will remove you from a place filled with misery and death.

Friend of Sinners

It’s a longing to see face-to-face the one who once lived among us. Jesus became a friend of sinners and a brother to the poor. He touched the sores of people, felt their tears, and then paid for everyone’s mistakes. He entered a tomb and then came out to assure that those who believe would do the same. And to all who are hurting he pledged, “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me.”  To all who long for his return he promised, “In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you.  I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.”

That day of promise is just around the corner. Every promise our heavenly brother ever made about our future will come true. So he bids us to live expectantly. With an ear for his trumpet and an eye to the clouds. You and I will surely see him. When Jesus calls your name, be ready. The promise of that day is so sweet, I can barely imagine it. Come, Lord Jesus – – take us home.
