- The Bible is God’s Word. That means there are no typos, errors, or mistakes. God wrote every word in the Bible by verbal inspiration. Men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit (2 Peter 1:21).
- There is sin in the world, but God did not create sin. People chose to sin and rebel against God. In the process they plunged mankind into sin and death. Sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned (Romans 5:12).
- We live in a world where death is the reality. What is worse God condemns sinful man to the torment of hell for his rebellion. Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell (Romans 6:23).
- God does not want to see anyone lost forever. His message is one of love: God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him will not perish, but has eternal life (John 3:16).
- Jesus’ life is not just an example. He was without sin so that he could be our substitute. Jesus died on the cross to take our place. By faith his perfection is ours. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. (2 Corinthians 5:21).
- The good news of forgiveness in Jesus as found on the pages of the Bible, in the waters of Baptism, and in the Lord’s Supper are the means by which the Holy Spirit gives faith to new Christians and cause faith to grow in believers hearts everywhere. Faith come from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the words of Christ (Romans 10:17).
- The life of the Christian is joy filled because we do not do good to all because we have to. We could never earn our way to heaven. Jesus came to us. He did everything. The good that we do is out of thanks for what God has done for us. I run in the path of your commands, for you have set my heart free (Psalm 119:32).
- We worship our God every week so that our souls might hear of his love for us often. It is easy to become discouraged. We gather to encourage each other and praise our God. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching (Hebrews 10:25).
- We are God’s witnesses to Winston Salem and the communities of the Piedmont Triad. We support worldwide missions of the WELS with our offerings and our prayers. Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation (Mark 16:15).
- On the Last Day Jesus will return in glory to judge the world and take all who believe in him as their Savior home to heaven. We look forward to that day! Come, Lord Jesus! When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory (Colossians 3:4).
