Want to hang out with lions? How about Rack, Shack, and Benny? We’re starting up a new Bible study Wednesday mornings on the book of Daniel.
Everyone is welcome to attend this mid week study. We’ll be using the People’s Bible commentary as we walk through the book. If you would like to purchase the book you may find it HERE on Amazon or anywhere books are sold.
We’ll use Zoom for our meeting. HERE is the link.
Introduction
Being in exile doesn’t sound like a good time. There were many who thought that God had forsaken his people as they marched off to exile.
Lesson One: Chapter 1
You’re new to the school and the hot lunch was offered to a pagan god. Do you jump in the line and eat the hotdog or go for some veggies? This food was fit for a king, but it wasn’t Kosher. Do you eat?
Lesson Two: Chapter 2-1
I was only a dream! What’s the big deal Nebuchadnezzar!? Do we really need an answer? We do. And if we don’t get it they all lose their heads.
Lesson Three: Chapter 2-2
Not only will I interpret the dream for you, O king, I’ll jump into your head and tell you what you saw. There is only one God in heaven. He still controls the nations of the world.
Lesson Four: Chapter 3
Is it hot in here or is it just me? Why would three men choose fire over a little civic idolatry?!
Lesson Five: Chapter 4
I was crazy once. I think Nebuchadnezzar might have been the OG crazy person. God humbled him for sure. Do you think we’ll see him in heaven?
Lesson Six: Chapter 5
Have you ever seen the handwriting on the wall? I hope not, because if you ever did, there is a good change your done being in charge.
Lesson Seven: Chapter 6
The highest drama happens by King Darius’ lions den. Will Daniel be hamburger by morning? Can the God of Israel save the prophet from the mouths of hungry beasts!?
Lesson Eight: Chapter 7
This chapter begins the second division of the book. The first six of the twelve chapters are mainly historical, with a minimum of prophecy. The last six chapters are mainly prophetic, with a minimum of history. Four separate visions that God granted Daniel are recorded (chapter 7, chapter 8, chapter 9, and chapters 10–12). The first of the four visions covers the longest span of time; the remaining three will focus on smaller portions of the history covered in the first vision.
Lesson Nine: Chapter 8
Chapter 8 describes two frightening eras that were in store for God’s people. The first was a period of extreme suffering in the more immediate future. The second was a period of deception and danger in the more distant future. For us today, one of these eras lies in the past; one still lies partly in the future.
Lesson Ten: Chapter 9
For Daniel, the change in government meant more than just a shift in his political allegiance. From his study of the Scriptures, Daniel—now in his 80s—realized that an era had passed, an era about which God had spoken in his Word. It was time for a prayer holding God to his promises.
