The conquest of the Promised Land was commanded by the Lord, but this was not home – not yet. How would they breach the walls of enormous cities? There were people who already lived there! They wouldn’t just move out of the way for God’s people. That doesn’t begin to scratch the surface for all of the internal struggles facing the nation of Israel.
