Heavenly Home is the final Bible class of the church year. The Bible tells us that heaven is our home, but we crave more details. What will it be like? We’ll explore what our God tells us in the pages of Scripture.
Glorified Fluffy
I am a proud dog owner and one of the questions I routinely get is – Will my dog be in heaven with me? The Bible doesn’t tell us that question exactly, but there are passages that offer us a picture of heaven and there are animals in it! Consider Isaiah 11 The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and a little child will lead them. 7 The cow will feed with the bear, their young will lie down together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox. These verses picture the peace that we will enjoy in glory. One of the ways that peace is pictures is animals that normally don’t get along happily living side by side.
More Information
Does that mean that your Fluffy will be with you for eternity? The Bible doesn’t tell us exactly, but I can’t say Fluffy WON’T be there either. I like to tell people that my heavenly mansion will have a soccer field, a bass pond, and an entertainment nook complete with a gaming PC and assorted consoles. God hasn’t promised me any of those things. Most of the descriptions of heaven are negative – what heaven won’t be like. There won’t be sorrow, pain, disease, hunger, or death. Everything that we view about our life is tainted by this sinful world or by the limits of space and time. When we enter eternity, life will be perfect and very different.
