What could possibly make the Christian taunt death even from the coffin? That would be Easter. The resurrection of Jesus changes everything. Death has lost. We fear the grave no more. Join us this Sunday immediately following worship as we close out our summer series VIC: Very Important Chapters of the Bible – 1 Corinthians 15 The Great Resurrection Chapter.
Each Easter the children gather to the front of the church to pick out the perfect Easter Egg. Each Easter some of the children are disappointed that the egg, instead of being filled with candy, is empty. Normally the older children know that the empty Easter Egg is a great reminder that the tomb is empty. What’s the big deal? Why is an empty anything good? It means that the grave has lost. It means that we have won.
Jesus’ resurrection is the proof that everything our God promises in the Bible is true. From the forgiveness of sins to our eternity in heaven to his daily providence and protection God keeps his promises.
Jesus doesn’t live on in our memories through beloved Bible stories. Jesus lives! So also our loved ones called out of this world do not live on in our memories. They live! Jesus’ exaltation is vital to our faith as the proof that his work was accomplished for us.
