Pre-Marriage Counseling is a walkthrough of God’s plan for a Christian husband and wife. There are six hours of instruction.
Work the Plan
God’s plan for a husband and wife is laid out in Scripture. It does not line up with the plan a couple commonly sees in our society or reflected in the current media. Every TV show or social media shows one example after another of God’s plan for marriage being ignored.
Basic Building Block
The results in society are startling. More than half of the children in our nation wake up in a home with divorced parents. These children are more likely to struggle in school and building relationships. The most important relationship in a person’s life isn’t with his or her spouse; it’s with his or her Lord. For that reason I encourage couples to first work through our Bible Information Class. Having that foundation of faith is key to making a marriage work. It’s important to marry someone who loves Jesus more than he or she loves you.
How Many Languages Do You Speak?
According to Winston Salem’s own Dr. Gary Chapman there are Five Love Languages. These languages are how you show love and feel loved. That might sound abstract until you consider how important a clean wastebasket, a held hand, time together watching a show, a new flower on the counter, or a word of praise on mirror might be. What happens all to often is that two people speak different love languages and then love past each other. If you go in for a hug, but your significant other really wants the dishwasher emptied, you might not be speaking her language.
