Passionate 4 – The Trial is the look at the gross miscarriage of justice that Jesus faced during his passion. Three times Jesus was tried in unfair trials and was condemned each time.
Falling Down
Talk about falling down on the job, I’m sure the soldiers who came to arrest Jesus quickly realize they were in over their heads. With a simple I am he, all of the soldiers fell to the ground! In spite of the power that Jesus showed he went willing with them. They didn’t need a small army. One soldier could have arrested Jesus and he would’ve gone willingly.
Clean and Innocent
There are three trials that Jesus went through the day that he died. I want to fast forward to the last one with the Roman Governor. I have to say – it is the height of hypocrisy for the Jews to railroad an innocent man to the cross, while trying to maintain ceremonial cleanliness by refusing to go into the house of a Gentile – Pilate. Who cares that we’re going to kill someone?! Just so long as I get to each the Passover tonight. Priorities, people! This is a perfect example of how twisted the Jewish faith, and its leaders had become.
Not From Around Here
The trial that Jesus has before the Roman Governor was a fascinating one. Pilate knew that Jesus was innocent. What would a normal man have done before the Roman Governor? Grovel? Plead, beg for his life. Jesus calmly tells him he’s not from around these parts and that he was born to be a king. Later Pilate learns that the Jews hate him because he claimed to be the Son of God! If nothing else, the Romans were very religious. Pilate had no problem entertaining the through that Jesus was, in fact, a god. He didn’t understand that Jesus far transcended the Roman pantheon. This was the Lord Almighty.
