My Easter Witness – JWs might strike fear in your heart. Do you get excited when you see two people walking down the street going door to door? I bet you get a glass a lemonade and sit on steps in eager anticipation. Or maybe… you lock the door, turn off the lights, and pull the shades? Part of what helps is knowing exactly what you’re getting into with a situation like this. It is my prayer that you will spend time with the Jehovah’s Witness and share the truth of who Jesus is.
Check out some of the resources below for loads of information on the group. For the last few words in this post I want to give you some information so that you could talk to a JW if he or she came to your door. First DON’T talk about all of the odd things about Jehovah’s Witnesses. Keep the focus on Jesus. Focus on the person and deity of our God. Connect the dots for them.
“The Bible claims Jesus is God. Jesus says that he’s God. Why don’t you say Jesus is God?”
They will try and attack the trinity. Yes, the word trinity isn’t in the Bible – it’s theological shorthand. The trinity is how we describe our awesome three in one God. One of the challenges with this is that they use their own version of the Bible. This isn’t helpful. So just using their Bible there are still a handful of passage that point to Jesus divinity.
The example I used in the class is Revelation 1:17-18 and then Isaiah 44:6.
