Foundations of Faith – Evangelism is the final in our Sunday morning Bible Information Class. Why do we share the gospel of Jesus with the world? It’s not because we want to win souls for Christ. That’s too narrow. The goal of evangelism is to give glory to God.
Let It Shine
We have our marching order from Jesus. This is important because a Christian can fall into complacency very easily. Do people really need to hear about Jesus? They look perfectly happy without knowing Jesus. Knowing Jesus could cause problems! Jesus is the greatest agent for change that the world has ever known. He says, “Go!”
Why Me
Are you qualified to do this work? There is no Plan B, mind you. If you don’t go out and tell your neighbors about Jesus, no one else will. There are Christians around the world who are doing this! The answer is that you are qualified. You are a holy nation, redeemed by the blood of the Lamb. We declare the praises of him who called us out of darkness into his wonderful light.
Will They Listen
I don’t know that people will listen to what you say. Frankly, that’s not your problem. God promises that his Word will not return to him empty, but will accomplish what he desires and achieve the purpose for which he sent it. You can’t do evangelism and waste your time. There are somedays it might feel that way. When you share the gospel of Jesus, God’s Spirit goes with his word. That means the gospel is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes. That means that if someone believes what our God says it’s because God has created the miracle of faith.
