VIC – Exodus 2

VIC – Exodus 2 plunges us into the Nile River.  We’re going for a float with baby Moses.

MAiD in Canada

What would you do if there was edict from the king to have your baby killed?  That’s happened in our memory in China.  Life isn’t always respected in our world.  1/20 deaths in Canada come from MAiD (Medical Assistance in Dying).  If you are suffering from an injury or disease the question isn’t how can we make you comfortable.  The question is have you considered committing suicide?  This is not God pleasing.

Let’s go back to ancient Egypt.  Moses’ parents did not listen to Pharaoh’s evil decree.  They did everything in their power to keep their son alive.

Royal Float

Miriam stayed close.  She knew that maybe the princess would find her little brother.  This could be the way that God could save her brother from a certain death.  God’s hand was certainly evident.  Not only was Moses’ life spared.  He was able to be nursed for the formative years of his life.  In some cultures children were nursed for the first five to seven years of life.  Moses was told who the God of the covenant was.  He was told how he was different from the Egyptians.  He knew that there would be a Savior of the world that would come through the nation of Israel.  And, maybe the least important, Moses mom was PAID to nurse her owe baby!

The Prince of Egypt

After Moses was weened, he was taken back to the princess where he was raised as a prince of Egypt.  This would be a valuable education for the man who would have to lead a few million people through the wilderness for the Lord.
