Halloween is the first topic in our Bible study series for the end of the church year. Is the day of the dead a Christian holiday? Are demons real? How do demons know my name?! We’ll see how can shine the light of Jesus on this dark holiday.
Good Clean Fun
You’re over at a friends house for a Halloween party. What better spooky activity than to bust out the Ouija Board! The kids will love it! It’s clean fun, right? Well, maybe not… Over the years of my ministry I have heard more than a few stories from people who have been playing with Ouija Boards. This is a gateway activity for deeper occult activity. My own children had a friend offer to play it with them (they politely declined).
They Know Your Name
Satan is a doggy on a chain. Don’t think of a malnourished doggy that just needs a little love. Think crazy horror movie dog that only barks lies and wants the destruction of everything Christian. Now that you know that, should you go and pet him?! Not a chance. Stay as far away as possible. The illustration comes full circle when you know that Satanist often us a Ouija Board to talk to demons. Don’t use it. I referenced a video from our pastor in our fellowship on the topic. He tells the story of a friend of his that was called out by a demon at a party. Please click HERE to find the Time of Grace video with Pastor Jeremy about demon possession. While it’s not a fun thought that demons know who you are, Pastor Jeremy reminds us that far more important is the truth that Jesus knows your name. Nothing can get through his almighty defense unless he allows it, or if you walk up and pet the doggy.
