Heavenly Home

Heavenly Home is a look at the rest we long for.  The church militant struggles under the weight of her own temptations, the consequences of sin, but not the guilt.  Jesus has taken the sin and guilt away by his atonement on the cross.

What will we be doing?

If you picture a choir of angels harmonizing with your every word, you’re not alone!  Revelation pictures our time in heaven consumed by praising God.  That’s not the only picture.  In Luke 19 our Lord Jesus tells the parable of the Mina.  When the owner comes back, he praised the faithful stewards who have made the owners money grow.  Than he says to them, since you have been faithful in this small matter, go take care of a number of CITIES!  You mean in heaven there will be civilization?  Again, we don’t know.  It’s not wise to take details from a parable and run too far with them, but this leaves the door open as to what heaven might be like.  I always joke that my mansion will have a soccer field, a fishing pond, and a video game setup so that can play with my little brother.

What about my dog?!

There are a number of questions I get routinely.  This is one of them.  Will my dog Beau Berry Biscuit share glory with me forever?  The prophet Isaiah DOES talk about the mountain of the Lord in chapter 11.  This is a picture of heaven that has animals.  When people press me, “What about Fluffy!”  I admit that we don’t know.  Since heaven will be more wonderful than our wildest dreams, who’s to say that your dog won’t be there!  If that’s what you need to be happy, I’m sure God can handle that detail.
