A Flat Noodle
Apostacy is a confusing term. Just to be clear it is not a flat noodle even though it has pasta in the name. An apostacy is a falling away. This can happen to individual Christians or even whole churches. Apostacy is one of the activities the Christian church will have to endure before the end of the world.
None Left
Even though there may be people falling away, walking away, yes, even running away from Christianity doesn’t mean that there is anything wrong with Christianity. This happened in the Old Testament as well. When Elijah the prophet was on the run for his life, he honestly thought that he was the last one. He mistakenly thought that there were no other Old Testament Christians left in Israel. He was a the point of despair and ask that God would end his life. He was wrong.
Nothing to Fear
God preserves people through the gospel. We speak of the marks of the church – the Gospel in Word and Sacrament. That means that wherever the marks of the church are found, you will find Christians AND the church! That is because the Spirit goes with his word and convicts and convinces hearts around the world that Jesus is their Savior. This simple truth is based on the faith of the believer not on the performance in life.
