By His Wounds We Are Healed – Nicodemus

By His Wounds We Are Healed – Nicodemus is the second in our Lenten series.  The Pharisee Nicodemus approached Jesus at night to ask a few questions. Jesus told him exactly how to join the kingdom of God.

Extra-Point

Growing up after every touchdown I saw the poster in the endzone with a simple message – John 3:16.  I don’t need to quote the verse because I’m betting that you already know it.  How do you explain the most well known verse of the Bible?  Put it into your own words!  God loves you and he showed that love when he sent Jesus to die for the sins of the world.

Judgment Day

Everyone is a sinner.  None of us can live up to God’s withering demands.  This is why we have a Savior.  God’s judgement is perfect – he is holy.  I’m careful to remind people that God is just, but he is not fair.  It’s not fair that I am shown mercy for every failure of my life.  It’s not fair that Jesus died in my place.  Our judgment on the Last Day will be based on our faith in Jesus, the Son of God.

If you don’t believe you stand condemned because the only way to be right before God is by faith in Jesus.  Conversely if you believe that Jesus is your Savior, you are forgiven and at peace.
