With A Smile
How can you tell someone that they are on the road to eternal damnation with a smile on your face? That might seem like an odd question, but at some point in our witness we need to get there. Our message of hope and love is powerful. God has freed us to love anyone and everyone in Jesus. Our message is that God loves the world, including our neighbor. Finally we don’t lie to anyone. If someone isn’t living the way God would have him live, we need to remind them that God’s plan for his life is different. We certainly don’t lie to anyone about God’s law.
Learn From The Master
Jesus was the best one there was when it came to talking to people. He was able to convict the heart of a teacher of the law by simply telling him to live exactly how he already knew God wanted him to live. The reason this encouragement was soul crushing was because the teacher of the law knew that he couldn’t do it. On that note everyone knows that it’s impossible to keep God’s law perfectly all the time. This is why the teacher of the law asked Jesus a follow up question.
Who is my neighbor?
Who is my neighbor could be interpreted as an innocent question. Maybe he simply didn’t know! The real reason was that he needed to limit the number of people that he needed to love. If my neighbor is only my family and friend, well then it’s not so back to keep God’s command. God wants is to love EVERYONE, including our enemies.
