Evangelism – Seeking The Lost is a look at people who need to be found. It’s also a window in our hearts that may not want to find the lost. Maybe it’s someone else’s job? Maybe we’re too buys? Maybe we simply don’t want to? God chases away our excuses and holds up the best reason for us to find the lost – the heart of our God.
Bad Reasons
There are plenty of reason we hold onto for not finding the lost. It is a lot of work. We don’t always know where to look. Maybe we really don’t have time. The heart of our God moves us to readjust our priorities so that we make time, figure out where to look, and do the work.
Lost in a Parking Lot
I was in college and as I was walking into a Shopko, I spotted a little girl by the base of a street light. She was very upset because she was lost. She didn’t know where her dad was. I could have ignored her – after all it could’ve been her fault. The only way for people to learn is for them to work through their mistakes right? WRONG! That’s a monstrous way to go through life. The compassion of our God fills our hearts. I took the little girl by the hand and walked her back into the store. We went to the service counter and in two shakes of a stick her dad came frantically running to collect his daughter.
Fruits of Faith
After a person knows Jesus, their lives are changed. Well sort of. The biggest change is on the inside. After you trust in Jesus, you start to change how you think and act. The danger for us is to put requirements on that person where Jesus has not. Our God demands perfection. Anything less than that is sinful. When a person starts to change his or her life out of thanks for Jesus sacrifice, that’s a spiritual act of worship, no matter how imperfect it may be.
