The wise men travels for a couple years to find the Christ child. A thousand years before Christ the Queen of Sheba came looking for wisdom too. There are still people who search their whole lives for the Christ child. They look for fulfillment and peace in places that can offer none. This Epiphany come and see the Light for the nations.
There is an exhaustion that cannot be cured with sleep. Rest for the soul is an elusive concept. Pleasure, money, or fame cannot energize the soul that is dragged down by guilt. There is only one cure for the weary soul. Jesus is the bread of life. That has always been the case. In our message this morning we will see the prophet Elijah – who should’ve been riding high – hit rock bottom.

One might think that King Solomon would ask God for protection after completely his golden temple for the Lord. Instead, he asks that everyone see it! And when they do, that God would hear their prayer! Today we are God’s temple, and through us God still does his work of evangelism.
