Witness to the Truth

Witness to the truth!  Does that charge make you want to run for the hills or stand your ground?  Do you see yourself witnessing to the truth and watching as the masses turn from their sin?

Now before you get any romantic ideas of crusading against the injustice of false prophecy – and the world giving you a trophy for your efforts, understand that your witness might be very unpopular.  The Apostle Paul writes in 2 Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.

This sounds insidious and evil.  And it is.  Anything that draws people away from our loving God is evil.  But what I’m about to show you is that it won’t always look that way.  Allow me to introduce you to an extremely cute false prophet.  If you listen closely, her message is adorable.  Who is the only person who could possibly be offended?

This is Margot Payne and her dad Jordan.  What was Margot’s message?  “It’s ok, fish.”  I have to ask, “Is it ok?”  No, of course not.  That fish will die.  Now, who is the only one is the video who has a problem with her message – THE FISH!  Her dad too.  Jordan came to rescue and threw the fish back in the lake.

My fellow witnesses of the truth.  Is sin ok?  No!  As the Apostle Paul writes in Romans 6 – we died to sin how can we live in it any longer?  Is it popular to point out that sin is not ok?  No.  The problem is that our society is extremely intolerant to Christianity.  We’ll be coming up on the topic of persecution in a few weeks, but for now know that the pressure to hold your witness could be crushing.  That doesn’t mean we should give in.

Want to hear more including a walk through on a couple awkward conversations about sexuality?  First check out Time of Grace Ministries series on homosexuality.  It was extremely well done.  Check out HERE.  Having a conversation with a couple that abusing heterosexuality is no less awkward and just as sinful.  We touch on that in our message below.  It is the second in our series on Witnessing for Christ: Witness to the Truth.
