He Lives to Be My Cornerstone

He Lives to Be My Cornerstone is the theme for 5th Sunday in the Easter Season.  Overall for this Sunday was He Lives to Be The Only Way to Heaven.  This is true.  Especially in the wake of the Bible study following worship on Mormonism.

You are living stone built into God’s house, the church!  All of you fit perfectly. That’s no by chance; it’s by design. Don’t be mistaken! Just because you’re a living stone in the wall doesn’t mean you get to sit there and do nothing. You have spiritual acts of worship to do!  This is your daily life.

What exactly do you offer God?

  • Peter writes, that we offer(ing) spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.  What’s a spiritual sacrifice?  God explains himself in the Bible.  Listen to Romans 12:1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship.  Everything that you do, yes the time and talents God has given you, use them to his glory.  That means mowing your grass, helping your child with his or her homework, going to work tomorrow morning are all sacrifices to God.
  • Listen to Philippians 4:18 I have received full payment and even more; I am amply supplied, now that I have received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent. They are a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God.  The financial blessings that God has given you, your treasures are also God pleasing gifts.
  • In Hebrews 13:15 Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that confess his name.  God loves to hear you sing the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.  And when you witness your faith and confess Jesus Christ as Lord, God loves to hear nothing more.
  • Finally, Revelation 8:3 Another angel, who had a golden censer, came and stood at the altar.  He was given much incense to offer, with the prayers of all the saints, on the golden altar before the throne.  Even the prayers that cross your mind for only a second rise to the throne of God like sweet smelling incense, and he listens to them.
