Cause and Effect – Generosity and Gratitude is the last in our End Time series. We close out our series, Cause and Effect on Thanksgiving Eve. The cause is God’s generosity. And the effect on his people is gratitude that overflows. But giving thanks to God can happen all through the life of a Christian, during the good times and the bad. What if our God in his mercy withholds a blessing? That doesn’t mean there is anything wrong necessarily. God never promises to supply us with all of our wants. Out of his glorious riches he never fails to supply for our needs.
Turkey Day
To many people tomorrow is Turkey Day. For those of us who like to call tomorrow Thanksgiving Day, please don’t take Turkey Day as a pejorative. I don’t think that people mean any harm with they call it that. Think of it this way, what if you find yourself in the pile of Americans known as the NONES. These folks are not hostile to God or religion. They simply don’t know what they don’t know. They are called the NONES because if you took a survey and spoke to them about their religious affiliation – are you Catholic, Lutheran, Methodist, etc. they would check none.
The Rise of The Nones
A survey last year estimates that up to 28% of the population falls into this category. What I recently learned is that there is more good and bad news. The bad news is that among some of your youth – think early 20s that figure is as high as 40%. The good news is that as the population ages, people fall out of the NONES, and is my prayer that they find Jesus. 83-yr-olds only have 7% of the population who identify as NONES.
