Resurrection Reality – Meaningful Message is the third message in our Easter series. The resurrection gives believers the ability to offer more than platitudes. We have a meaningful message to share—of repentance, of forgiveness, of peace, of power. The reality is we have something important to say to every single person that God brings into our sphere of influence. And our risen Savior gives us the courage and power to share that meaningful message.
But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One.
On April 1st I was in a court room. Rarely will I help our families, but it happens. Sitting there for a couple hours it is a world all its own. Advocates or attorneys would walk in and out over and over talking to clients, wheeling and dealing in the hallway. I saw one guy approach the bench and swap baby pictures with the judge. As you drive down 40 how many bill boards do you see with pictures of these lawyers with boxing gloves or a hammer or some picture of how he or she will work for you?
What if I told you that there was a lawyer who never lost a case? He could get you off from any crime that you have ever committed? There would be a line around the block waiting for his services, right?
How did he do it? There aren’t enough baby pictures to win favor for what you and I have done. Jesus our Great Advocate said – your honor, I know that my client is guilty. He confessed to all of his crimes – we covered that part. He won’t be going to jail for the rest of eternity. I will take his place.
There is a gasp in the courtroom, Jesus is cuffed and stuffed – he is lead away. But you are free! That’s good news, right?! If you’re thinking that’s not fair. Of course it’s not, but that’s grace.
