The Easter Difference – Dry Tears Chase Fears can change your life. What is there to cry about these days? Plenty… What is there to be afraid of? I’m glad you asked…
That’s a very personal question, I know. So let’s soften that a little and look at what your fellow American are afraid of and see where you fall. There was a university in California that did a study in 2025 of the top fears in the world. They asked Americans to rank the fears. The top fear wasn’t death. Death came in at 48th tied with insects. The top fear was corrupt government officials followed by bad health care, pollution, and not having enough money. All of these are day to day problems – real fears mind you. Now if you asked the Jews about Pontius Pilate the man that you saw in the opening video, he was a great example of a corrupt government official. They aren’t going anywhere. They’ve always been a problem. Pollution? Are you afraid of what will come out of the faucet – we don’t live in Flint, Michigan, but that can be bad. Not having enough money? Now we’re getting to the day to day problems of life.
Life is so uncertain – as I volunteer at the kids school I see families falling apart. I see folks struggle to make ends meet. The longer a person lives the more fear they experience. The real question in all of this is will God take care of me? He will and Jesus resurrection proves it.
I always wonder what will the Last Day be like? The dead rising from the grave. Back in 1917 we have a case that offers one possible example. Essie Dunbar was stricken with epilepsy her whole life. At the age of 30 – back in 1915 – she suffered a severe seizure that left her in a coma. Sadly the doctors at that time mistakenly thought she was dead. What do we do with dead bodies? We bury them right away! The next day at the funeral Essie’s sister was very late. So late that they were tossing dirt on the coffin. At her sister’s begging they pulled the casket out of the ground. When they opened it Essie sat up! Her and her sister had a grand reunion while everyone else around them panicked and ran away screaming. I look forward to the Last Day, not because of the inevitable running and screaming, but because of the grand reunion that we will enjoy.
