The Gift of God - Patiently Wait

The Gift of God – Patiently Wait is the sermon for the Second Sunday in the Christmas season. Waiting is easy if your food is maybe a little late at a restaurant. What if the power is out at your house? How patiently do you wait before life gets a little stressful?

God Makes Us Blameless

It’s a crushing blow when we realize that we’re the problem. It’s time to fall on our faces. How can we be perfect? Blameless? This impossibility can only be solved by our Almighty God. Being blameless is impossible for us, but listen to what God tells us in 1 Corinthians – He will keep you strong to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. And Ephesians – For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. Finally of the saints in heaven God tells us – No lie was found in their mouths; they are blameless. God sent his Son born of a woman born under Law to redeem those under Law that we might receive the full rights of Sons.

The Bible calls Noah blameless – the same man who was passed out naked from over indulging with his wine. Job was blameless – the man who challenged the almighty God demanding to know why bad things happened to him a good person. David an adulterer and murderer was blameless too.

A One-Sided Deal

God doesn’t specifically speak to the promise of blamelessness here, but this isn’t the only time God appeared to Abraham either. God speaks to Abram NINE times in Genesis. Listen to how God works with him 2 Then I will make my covenant between me and you and will greatly increase your numbers.” God is the one acting, it is his idea completely, his covenant or contract. This agreement wasn’t something Abram brought to God in prayer, this is a divine contract with God’s name already signed to it. It is NOT conditional. God continues to pour out blessings on Abram.
