What Makes Christians Different – Answer Doubt With Faith is a leap for all of us. Maybe you’re super comfortable taking that step into the abyss with your Lord. For many people this is a hard step.
I have a favor to ask of you. Well I need to borrow some money, $10,000. What for? – none of you asked but I can tell what you’re thinking. Trust me, though. I’m your pastor. We’ve known each other, for almost seven years now. We go way back, right? Just trust me. Jenna’s birthday is coming up at the end of the month and I wanted to install a hot tub in the new deck I’m building on the back of the parsonage. I don’t know if I would trust myself with a $10,000 construction project. I don’t know if you should either.
Have you ever wondered why you trust the people you do? In our text today God is going to ask you to trust him – to put all your faith in him.
1 What, then, shall we say in response to this? I don’t want to get on the space ship is what I would say. God isn’t asking us to get on a spaceship he’s asking us to take the ride of our lives – literally and then a ride beyond the grave. The good news is that the “this” – in the Apostle Paul’s what, then, shall we say in response to this is not that God was the lowest bidder. It is how God spared no expense. He has been planning for our lives for all of eternity. God didn’t subcontract out your eternity, your forgiveness, and your salvation. God gave it to the best and only man for the job, his son Jesus Christ. If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? The answer is that he will give us all things. Go to him in prayer and ask him for anything – even though you don’t know what’s best for you – God does. God gives us everything. Jesus conquers all. What more could we want? How can we lose?
