What Makes Christians Different – Seek Spiritual Wealth

What Makes Christians Different – Seek Spiritual Wealth asks a unique question.  You can have anything that you want.  Anything…  What would you ask for?  Maybe a new house?  Maybe just having your current house paid off!  What about relationships?  How about having your children know their Savior?

Solomon was in an awkward position.  He was the political ruler of the nation that would one day bear the promised Savior, but he didn’t know how to be a king.  He says, “Now, O LORD my God, you have made your servant king in place of my father David. But I am only a little child and do not know how to carry out my duties.”  Solomon recognized that he was way over his head.  So he asks God for the wisdom to rule and judge God’s people.

Solomon had his priorities straight.  He recognized that faithfulness to the LORD was the most important thing in his life, yet he also realized that besides having a strong faith-life, he needed help from God to run the country.

So also with us, when we have our priorities straight.  The first item on our prayer list will be a strong faith.  There is nothing more important than our relationship with God.  But then, just like Solomon, there are many things that are over our heads too.  Moms and dads, consider for a moment the heavy responsibility you have for the spiritual instruction of your children.  Star of Bethlehem will help you with resources and tools, but God gives the responsibility to you.  In such an important matter there is nothing wrong with asking God for wisdom to be a father or mother.  He wants us to pray for such things.
