What Makes Christians Different – Trust God To Provide takes us to the limit.  Jesus needed a break.  We do too some days.

Let’s talk logistics a little.  3 When Jesus heard what had happened, he withdrew by boat privately to a solitary place. The body of water that we’re talking about here is the Sea of Galilee.  Remember, Jesus just wants some time for himself because he’s said.  This isn’t the only instance in the gospel accounts that he takes time to spend in prayer with his Heavenly Father.  This isn’t the sermon on rest – but it is a good reminder that we need to take time and unplug from the world – the internet, media – and talk to God in prayer, and hear him reply in his word.

But that never happened for Jesus.  Hearing of this, the crowds followed him on foot from the towns.  This means the crowds see Jesus leave – he’s quickly turning into a rock star level popular status – figure out where he could be going.  And either these people book it eight miles to the place on the lake where he lands or word spreads where he will be landing.  Either way there is another crowd waiting for him.  All Jesus wanted was a little time for himself.  He got a little time in the boat, at least.

14 When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, and he got back in the boat and left…  , he yelled out, “just leave me alone…” , no  14 When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them and healed their sick. How great is the love of your God!  The crowds still throng to our God.  Do you have any need or care?  Take it to the Lord in prayer, but it’s a good reminder that you never need to wonder if God wants to hear from you.  He loves you!
