Watch and wait! That is the cry throughout the ages, throughout the pages of Scripture, and that cry still goes out from pulpits across Christendom. It is the final Sunday of the church year. We end with an eye to the sky as we await the return of our Lord in glory. But that topic – watch and wait – isn’t a great one.
This is the time to remember those who have gone before us. They are not gone. Those who dies in Christ are alive! Wipe those tears away.

In St. John’s Revelation we hear the distant triumph song of our God. Christ is not just our king, he is the king of the universe. In this sermon we looked at Christ’s crown, his conquest, and his return on the Last Day.
What will heaven be like? Often we struggle to grasp the picture God lays out for us of our eternal home by his side. All we know is a sinful, fallen world. While I love the carpet of fallen leaves, in heaven we won’t see death ever again. This Sunday we’ll work through some of the details of our heavenly home.
The Sun of Righteousness rising with healing in its wings might not be a familiar picture, but to God’s Old Testament people, it was one that they looked forward to. That sounds reasonable, doesn’t it? Who wouldn’t want to see that every morning?
